Expertise Practice Areas

Intellectual property has been growing in Mozambique, along with economic growth and the development of industry. With investment and the consequent multiplication of stakeholders, accompanying the diversification of the economy, the need for a legal regime capable of monitoring, registering and protecting the rights of investors and clients gains importance, particularly with regard to the registration of private industrial property rights.

The Mozambican legal regime for industrial property is based mainly on the Industrial Property Code and on the Regulation of Industrial Property Agents. Since 2003, the Institute of Industrial Property, under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, deals specifically with matters relating to this subject, covering all commerce, services and industry.

Our team provides experienced and knowledgeable advice on local complexities, proactively contributing to a successful navigation in this legal landscape. Our lawyers are certified as Official Industrial Property Agents, thus being able to support the registration and regularisation of rights.

We provide a wide range of legal services, namely in matters related to private industrial property rights, protected in Mozambique by the Industrial Property Code, including patents, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks (of products and services, collective and of certification), insignia, trade names, logos, designation of geography and origin and reward.

We act for both national and international clients, supporting our clients in relation to other countries through a network of associate offices.
